As the founder of ETH, what are your thoughts? Why can such a project continue to suck blood without any major development?@VitalikButerin @ensdomains
This is one of the most effective scams in all of crypto. The basic idea is great, use a human-readable name instead of a long hex address for your wallet. I love it and I have over 100 of them. But the execution is just extraction. ENS has been around for eight years, the ENS DAO has made tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars from renewal fees, but seems content not to make any effort to use that money to drive widespread adoption. Yes they are busy on integrations and a new chain but where is the marketing drive to get all of crypto to use ENS? Imagine you're a new user to crypto and you've heard about ENS and you make it to the registration page. What happens? Well if you're John Smith you might search for johnsmith.eth, but you'll get a pop up to say that it's registered. Too bad. No other .eth will be suggested and there is no link to johnsmith.eth on the secondary market for the user to consider buying or making an offer, or even to just get an idea of how many of us there are behind this barrier. So maybe John Smith just leaves and doesn't get an ENS. @ensdomains denies new users access to the very people that have spent years keeping the DAO afloat. But hey, as long as we keep paying the DAO salaries with our 3 and 4 character renewals what do they care?
